In this edition of International People Moves, we explore significant leadership appointments at Arch Insurance and DUAL Europe. These changes reflect the evolving landscape of the insurance industry and a commitment to strengthening offerings in specialized sectors, particularly executive assurance and cyber insurance.

Appointment of Julien Martins

Arch Insurance has appointed Julien Martins as the new Head of Executive Assurance for France. This strategic role, effective immediately, positions Martins to oversee the development of Arch’s executive assurance portfolio within the French market and beyond.

Role Responsibilities and Regional Focus

Martins joins Arch Insurance (EU) dac (AIEU) from AXA XL, where he most recently served as the Regional Product Leader for Casualty in APAC and Europe. His extensive experience includes underwriting roles at Liberty Specialty Markets and XL Catlin. At Arch, he will focus on crafting directors and officers (D&O) coverage tailored for commercial clients, financial institutions, and SMEs, particularly in French-speaking countries: France, Monaco, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Matthew Brophy, Chief Underwriting Officer at AIEU, expressed optimism regarding Martins’ appointment, emphasizing the growing demand in France’s executive assurance market. “Julien’s reputation, market knowledge, and relationships make him ideally suited to support our local clients effectively,” he stated.

Chemello will oversee operations in Southern Europe, including Italy and the Iberian Peninsula, while Hedenstedt will focus on the Nordics, Ireland, and Benelux.
